How did others find the courses

Tillydrone – Lorraine:
Over the year I have attended several classes through Pathways. I have really enjoyed Introduction to Aromatherapy, which has encouraged me to buy some books and essentials oils on the subject. It is good to work with Moira who is the class co-ordinator because she sees what we do and want on a first hand basis. She also works with us one to one, which makes a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, making it easier to learn.
I am also attending Introduction to Computers, which is helping me brush up on office skills. Many years ago I worked in an office and now that I am attending the course, I am aware that many things have changed. I’m hoping to attend another course and maybe attend St Machar Initiative but at the moment Pathways cater for my needs.

Middlefield Learning House – Ann:
Firstly, I would like to say that I owe a great deal to Pathways and also my tutor Susie Lind. If I hadn't gone to "Confidence building classes" then I most certainly would not be attending University at the moment. I was a housewife with three young children. I had no confidence at all and also felt I had nothing to offer. One day I found out about the Learning House and went in; it was there that I found out about Pathways classes and the variety on offer. For me there seemed only one class that I needed, the one in “Confidence”. I have not looked back. I am certainly a lot happier now I have prospects and my life has changed drastically for the better.

Portal CEC – May:
I come from Syria so initially I found living in Scotland very lonely until I found out about Pathways first step classes. I have attended three classes and found they mixed well. I have been encouraged to find out about College courses. I visited Aberdeen College and met with the course directors. Although I do not feel completely ready to start College I have a lot of information from them. I feel that without Pathways I would still be by myself at home. They have given me great encouragement and I hope to continue with them.

Henry Rae – Linda:
My two older sons have been using a PC at school, so a few weeks ago I decided to buy one. Well, it sat in the room for two weeks not even switched on because I was scared of it. Then I popped into the Henry Rae Centre and someone told me that Pathways were running a beginner’s course in computers. So I signed up!
I am now on my PC every day at home. Pathways' course gave me the confidence to do that. Now the holidays are coming and I am having a break from our classes but I am very, very keen to come back afterwards and learn more. It's great that there is a crèche so that mums or dads with young children can still join and not be stuck at home!
